Having a Good Time in Decatur, Wish You Were Here: Postcards from the Past
The new exhibit explores the history behind the introduction of postcards into the American culture in the 1800s and a look back at the variety of picture postcards showing early Decatur area scenes and the interesting messages written in the early 1900s by Decatur residents on back of postcards to family and friends.
By reading the postcard messages, museum visitors will get a chance to peek back into the everyday lives of early Decatur residents and a glimpse at many of Decatur’s lost architectural buildings and street scenes.
