Having a Good Time in Decatur, Wish You Were Here: Postcards from the Past The new exhibit explores the history behind the introduction of postcards into the American culture in the 1800s and a look back at the variety of picture postcards showing early Decatur area scenes and the interesting messages written in the early 1900s by Decatur residents on back of postcards to family and friends. By reading the postcard messages, museum visitors will get a chance to peek back into the everyday lives of early Decatur residents and a glimpse at many of Decatur’s lost architectural buildings and street scenes.

Made in Decatur: Past & Present This exhibit, made possible in part from a matching grant from the Illinois Association of Museums and matching contributions from Macon County Historical Society Members, explores the history of many of the companies, inventions and products from the past through the present that have been part of Decatur's Industrial Revolution that began in the 1870s.

"Treasures From The Attic" Antique Appraisals Several times throughout the year Guest Appraiser, Professor Edward Walker, Millikin University Art Professor and Accredited Antiques Appraiser visits the museum and appraises treasures from your home. Appraiser fee $12.00 and there is a two item limit. Call the museum 217/422-4919 for the next date.

The Lincoln Connection This exhibit not only details the connection between Abraham Lincoln and the Decatur and Macon County area, but also features one of the largest collections of artifacts in Illinois dealing with the Grand Army of the Republic organization that was founded in Decatur, Illinois, in 1866.
