Political Conventions, Campaigns and Elections:
Facts & Myths about Our Elected Leaders

This exhibit explores America’s historical legacy behind its political party system at both the national, state and local levels through the use of photos, historical background information, campaign memorabilia, newspapers, and interested facts.

Visit the Presidents1. Did you know that there have been more than 42 U.S. Presidents?

2. Did you know that a U.S. Vice President was branded a traitor?

3. Did you know that there have been over 30 women who have run for U.S. President since 1872?

4. Did you know that President George Washington wasn’t always loved by his fellow countrymen?

These and other facts covered in the new exhibit are tailored to educate both adults and students in better understanding their country’s political system that began after the fight for political independence from Great Britain.

"Treasures from the Attic" Antique Appraisals

Treasures from the AtticSeveral times throughout the year Guest Appraiser, Professor Edward Walker, Millikin University Art Professor and Accredited Antiques Appraiser visits the museum and appraises treasures from your home. Appraiser fee $12.00 and there is a two item limit.

The Lincoln Connection

The Lincoln ConnectionThis exhibit not only details the connection between Abraham Lincoln and the Decatur and Macon County area, but also features one of the largest collections of artifacts in Illinois dealing with the Grand Army of the Republic organization that was founded in Decatur, Illinois, in 1866.
